Pioneer Cemetery

14th and Madison

Astoria Pioneer Cemetery was deeded by James Welch to Astoria on April 22, 1865. By 1891, 498 burials were recorded. There were also numerous unlisted interments. Bodies from abandoned cemeteries were brought here. Many graves and markers were later removed by the families. Use of the cemeteries was discontinued around 1900.

Employee of the Month

We couldn't choose between our excellent Aquatics staff members to highlight for Employee of the Month, so we decided to honor all three!  Lead Lifeguards Ethan McCarley and Susan Principe, and Aquatics Recreation Coordinator Peter von Payens have all been instrumental in supporting the U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers practicing at the facility and are working hard to help us reopen the AAC in March.  The combined institutional knowledge and ability of this group has been indispensable in keeping our facility running safely, we are so grateful for their hard work and excited to continue utilizing their talents as we look to reopen!

THANK YOU ETHAN, SUSAN, and PETER!!
