Our Parks & Facilities

Come and visit our Parks! Click below for the link to locations. We have a variety of tennis courts, basketball courts, ballfields, skatepark, trails, and much more.

  • Lil' Sprouts Academy - This is a great place for your child to learn and grow!
  • Astoria Recreation Center - The Astoria Recreation Center offers programs for school age children and adults. We have a wide variety of fitness classes an after school program, a Teen Center, and offer recreational classes for all ages.
  • Astoria Parks - Check out all of Astoria's parks!
  • Port of Play - Experience structured and open play geared to young children. Our center features an indoor play center with mats, tricycles, small slides, and scooters that provide opportunities for youngsters to run and be active.
  • Aquatic Center - Four pools, a huge water slide and a large fitness area all under one roof.
  • Astoria Column - Completed in 1926, the column is a monumental piece of Astoria's history. Located at the top of Coxcomb Hill, the Column stretches upwards 125 feet, with 164 spiral steps to reach the viewing deck.
  • Kid Zone - This is a unique after school program that serves Astoria's Kindergarten through 5th grade students! Each day we will help your children with homework and offer exciting crafts, games and team building activities.
  • Master Plan - The City of Astoria Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

After our annual two week closure, Astoria Parks welcomes the community to join us at the Aquatic Center.

Astoria Parks Awarded $17,190 Grant for WWI Doughboy Monument

The Grant will be used in the continued restoration of the Doughboy Monument, to be unveiled during the 100th Anniversary of World War I.

Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training

The Astoria Aquatic Center is looking to hire day time Lifeguard and Swim Instructors. If you are interested in joining a positive team environment and learning critical life saving skills, this is a great job for you! Our next Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Training Certification Course is coming up. Contact us for more information.

Volleyball Open Gym

Volleyball season just isn't long enough. Join us once-a-week for open gym! Bring a team or come on your own. Everyone is welcome! Cost is $5.00

4th Annual Instant Gratification “run”

Join the Astoria Dowtown Historic District Association and Astoria Parks and Recreation for its FOURTH Annual Instant Gratification”RUN.” Zero training. Zero Running. All the fun. Costumes highly encouraged. $25 donation goes to fund Astoria Parks Fun Runs and the Annual Valentine’s Day Ball.

Month


Winde began working as a clerk for the Astoria Recreation Center back in February, as a “way to be active in (her) community and meet people.” Winde is always willing to go above and beyond, and has assisted the department with many projects since the beginning of her tenure. Winde now acts as a shared employee between the Recreation Center and the Aquatic Center. She is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, is the wife of a member in the Coast Guard, and has two daughters; one in college and one senior at Seaside High.

 

Park Partner of the Month

 

Vanessa Bish has been volunteering at Port of Play since 2010!  She visits our facility 3 days a week to help clean and organize, and rarely misses a day with us.  Vanessa is a life-long resident of Astoria. She plays the piano and is a music enthusiast, specifically when it comes to the Brownsmead Flats.  She is happy helping out at Port of Play, and her family has stated that volunteering with us is truly “highlight of her life”.
