January 4, 2016 will be the five year anniversary of Lil' Sprouts Academy. In October of 2010, the current childcare center (ACCC) located in Gray School, closed down abruptly, and there was a huge need for childcare. Astoria Parks & Recreation, along with many other community Partners (Columbia Memorial Hospital, the Astoria School District & Clatsop Community College) decided to join forces, and help meet this need by creating a new childcare center, Lil' Sprouts Academy.
When Lil' Sprouts opened its doors in 2011, there were three classrooms; one infant room, one toddler room and one preschool room. In the last 3.5 years, the program has grown tremendously and now houses five classrooms; one infant room, two toddler rooms, a preschool room and pre-kindergarten room.
