Employee
of the
Month

Winde began working as a clerk for the Astoria Recreation Center back in February, as a “way to be active in (her) community and meet people.” Winde is always willing to go above and beyond, and has assisted the department with many projects since the beginning of her tenure. Winde now acts as a shared employee between the Recreation Center and the Aquatic Center. She is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, is the wife of a member in the Coast Guard, and has two daughters; one in college and one senior at Seaside High.

Park Partner of the Month

Vanessa Bish has been volunteering at Port of Play since 2010!  She visits our facility 3 days a week to help clean and organize, and rarely misses a day with us.  Vanessa is a life-long resident of Astoria. She plays the piano and is a music enthusiast, specifically when it comes to the Brownsmead Flats.  She is happy helping out at Port of Play, and her family has stated that volunteering with us is truly “highlight of her life”.
